Critical Data Practices Workshop

Dr. Michele Mauri will share Density Design Lab’s work with the visualization of two very different archives, followed by a discussion of the opportunities and challenges of visual representation of objects in a digital archive with Lindsay King, Head of Bowes Art and Architecture Library, Beleicia Bullock, a Stanford PhD student in Computer Science/Human Computer Interaction, and CESTA-affiliated faculty.

Mauri will share DensityDesign Lab’s work on the privately held ANGELO Archive which consists of over 120,000 garments and accessories dating from the late 19th century to the early 2000s and WLM Observatory platform designed by Density for the Wikimedia Foundation’s “Wiki loves monuments” contest, serving an open community of contributors across the world who gather and document images of cultural heritage monuments.

This event will include dinner and take place at the Stanford Center for Spatial and Textual Analysis in Wallenberg 433A.
