[Deadline extended] CESTA 2025 Winter, Spring, and Summer Undergraduate Research Program Applications Are Open!

CESTA has worked with more than 700 undergraduate researchers, offering them more than 1100 internships, for the last 13 years. Our programming empowers students to apply technologies across the Humanities and Social Sciences in ways that enhance our understanding of the world.

The applications for the 2025 CESTA Undergraduate Research Programs are now open! Stanford's CESTA Undergraduate Research Programs is your gateway to cutting-edge exploration at the intersection of technology, design, and the humanities. As a vibrant digital humanities center, CESTA empowers students to transform their academic journey by applying advanced technologies to uncover, analyze, and share stories from our shared cultural history.

Through this unique internship, you’ll dive into exciting, real-world projects that bring history and cultural records to life. Work side-by-side with expert faculty mentors, gaining hands-on experience with tools like data science, GIS, and web development—all while honing skills in critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and ethical decision-making.

In the 2024-25 academic year, students have the option of two program terms: Winter and Spring (a two-quarter part-time research assistantship) or Summer (a one-quarter full-time internship).
