Ali Yaycioglu is a historian of the Ottoman Empire and Modern Turkey, with emphasis on economic, political and legal institutions, and social and cultural life in southeastern Europe and the Middle East during the Ottoman Empire. He uses digital tools for exploration and visualization through his work as Project Lead of Mapping Ottoman Epirus, which investigates the complicated political and economic systems of the Ottoman Empire through mapping, network analysis, and big data studies.
