Elaine Treharne is a Welsh medievalist with specializations in manuscript studies, archives, information technologies, and early British literature. She uses a varietal of digital and computational approaches in her research, including the application of machine learning and AI to studies of medieval manuscripts and textual transmission. She was Faculty Director of CESTA from 2016 to 2019, and she is now director of Text Technologies, an integrated research hub that explores and develops tools to study various textual forms throughout human history. Together with Claude Willan, she published Text Technologies: A History in 2019.
