Early Spatial History Project in the News

A recent story from KQED about shellmounds in the Bay Area references work by one of the original Spatial History projects, "Down by the Bay," led by Matthew Booker in collaboration with Erik Steiner and research assistants.  Find more on the Spatial History Project site.

Matthew Booker’s book Down by the Bay came out of this and other efforts to visualize the environmental, geological, cultural, and economic history of the bay. Dr. Booker is now an Associate Professor of History at NC State University and still collaborates with the Spatial History Project via our "Visual Narrative Cluster."
