CESTA Receives a Grant from the Office of Community Engagement for New Partnership with Foothill College

We are delighted to announce that CESTA has been awarded one of eight inaugural Office of Community Engagement Grants focused on addressing pandemic challenges in our local communities. Engaging with education, one of the areas that has been most severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, this grant will allow us to launch a pilot program for a new CESTA Community College Summer Internship. This year's internship will pair Foothill College students with advanced PhD students from Stanford with the aim of providing research experience and training in Digital Humanities-related skills, such as computational text analysis, spatial analysis, and data visualization. The program will be led by Daniel Bush, CESTA’s postdoctoral Director of Research. Daniel's experience working with community-college students and faculty as part of SGS's EPIC Fellowship and VPGE's Preparing Future Professors program has been instrumental in developing and setting up this summer's pilot. Our partner in this community collaboration is Dr. Falk Cammin, Chair of the Humanities Department at Foothill College and an alumna of Stanford's German Studies department.
