The Digital Humanities Fellows program is designed to prepare graduate students for a future where digital scholarship is the norm. Applications for the 2023-24 program are due Friday, November 3, 2023.

Over two quarters (Winter and Spring), fellows will enter a community of practice that features workshops with special guests tailored to the needs of the cohort, works-in-progress presentations from fellows, and guidance from scholars and practitioners across campus. Each DH Fellow will benefit from two quarters of support from an undergraduate research intern whose interests and expertise closely align with the research project.

To foster a community of practice, fellows gather for weekly meetings with their cohort. The program of meetings typically includes:

  • Skills workshops
  • Seminars from DH practitioners
  • Works-in-progress presentations
  • Graduate reading group

Learn about last year's cohort or see the full list of fellows' projects.

  • Meet with and learn from experts in the use of digital methods
  • Attend seminars and graduate reading group sessions
  • Participate in a community of like-minded researchers
  • Receive two quarters of support (up to 150 hours) of an undergraduate research intern

The Digital Humanities Fellows Program is open to Stanford graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in the humanities and interpretive social sciences. Priority is given to students who have completed their required coursework. Applicants are required to propose a research project which they pursue with an undergraduate research intern over the course of the fellowship. This research project may (but need not) be part of their dissertation research.  Applications for the 2023-24 program are due November 3, 2023.
