Jesse Rodin uses a mix of digital, analog, and experiential approaches to make contact with lived musical experiences of the distant past, especially the fifteenth century. His work with CESTA is as Project Lead of the Josquin Research Project, which uses digital tools to subject fifteenth-century repertories to both close and “distant” reading. The project’s open-access website hosts a growing collection of digitized scores and analytical tools that help bring “big data” into conversation with traditional analytical methods.
